WIND MOBILE'S COMPLAINT TO CANADA'S COMPETITION BUREAU RESULTS IN LEGAL
PROCEEDINGS AGAINST ROGERS' CHATR
WIND Mobile continues to champion wireless choice for Canadians
TORONTO, Nov. 19 /CNW/ - In the ongoing fight for a fair wireless market in Canada, WIND Mobile took a stand against Rogers' Chatr's recent misleading advertising campaign by lodging a complaint with Canada's Competition Bureau, which today announced that after a two-month investigation it has begun legal proceedings against Rogers Communications Inc. The proceedings are to stop what the Bureau has concluded is misleading advertising of Rogers' experimental discount cell phone service Brand, Chatr.
"As longstanding champions of wireless choice for Canadians, we are very pleased that the Competition Bureau has come to this conclusion and we applaud its decision to stand up for Canadian consumers and their right to accurate information," said Anthony Lacavera, Chairman of WIND Mobile. "This signifies another important milestone in the ongoing fight for fair wireless in Canada."
The misleading ads by Rogers' Chatr claim that Rogers' Chatr has fewer dropped calls than the new entrants, a claim which WIND disputes. "WIND Mobile has built a state-of-the-art, all-IP 3G+ network," said Ken Campbell, CEO of WIND Mobile. "We are very proud of the quality of our network and could not allow unsubstantiated and misleading claims about its quality go unchallenged."
WIND's technologically advanced network has been built to accommodate an evolution to 4G, providing superior quality of service and handling of multimedia, messaging and mobile applications as technology evolves. By comparison, Chatr is run on Rogers' old 2G network.
