WINDSOR, ON, Sept. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) -Windsor Detachment have arrested and charged one male with drug related offences.
At approximately 10:00AM on September 6th, 2012, members of the Windsor RCMP observed an individual meet with several persons near the intersection of Wyandotte and Goyeau Streets in Windsor. RCMP investigators observed an exchange of cash between two persons. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a 34 year old Windsor man pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). Investigators seized 67 Oxycodone pills, approximately 22 grams of cannabis marihuana, $500 cash, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.
A 34 year old Windsor man faces 2 charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Schedule I and II) contrary to Section 5(2) CDSA and 2 charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Schedule I and II) contrary to Section 5(1) CDSA. He is scheduled to appear in the Windsor Ontario Court of Justice on October 1st, 2012 at 9:30AM.
"The illegal sale of pharmaceuticals and other controlled substances at any level pose serious threats to our community's well being. The RCMP's commitment to ensuring safe homes and communities includes combating drug trafficking at all levels," said Sgt. Dave WATTS - Acting Officer in Charge of the Windsor Detachment.
