WINDSOR, ON, July 30, 2013 /CNW/ - On July 16, 2013 a Windsor resident pled guilty to one count of Fraud over $5000.00 for defrauding the Federal Government of more than $150,000.00.
The Windsor RCMP conducted a 2-year investigation into allegations that a Windsor resident had been fraudulently collecting Old Age Security (OAS) and Canada Pension Plan (CPP) benefits. Police investigation revealed that CPP and OAS had been fraudulently collected over a period of approximately 14 years. As a result of this investigation; a 78 year old Windsor woman was charged with three counts of Fraud over $5,000.00 and another three counts of Uttering Forged documents.
On July 16, 2013, this Windsor resident pled guilty to one count of Fraud over $5,000.00, resulting in a 12 month Conditional Sentence Order, 12 month probation and restitution ordered in the amount of $151,310.00, payable to the Receiver General of Canada. As a result of the Guilty Plea, the remaining five criminal charges were withdrawn by the Provincial Crown.
