Winners Announced for 38th Canadian Sport Awards
Canada's Top 2010 Sporting Honours to be announced during the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif in Ottawa
OTTAWA, Nov. 20 /CNW/ - The True Sport Foundation (TSF) today announced the winners for the 38th Canadian Sport Awards (CSA), the ultimate recognition event for excellence in Canadian sport. The awards promote sporting excellence across Canada and are a tribute to the hard work, dedication and victories of our country's finest athletes between January - September 30, 2010.
"The Canadian Sport Awards honours Canada's amateur athletes for their excellence, athletics, commitment and leadership in sport," says Victor Lachance, Executive Director of the True Sport Foundation.
Winners of the Athlete Performance, Leadership in Sport, Corporate Excellence Award and the Spirit of Sport Story will be presented with their awards during the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif, November 20th 2010 at the Westin Hotel, Ottawa.
Canadian Sport Awards is taking place in November to coincide with the Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif where leaders in coaching are recognized. The long-term vision of the partnership between True Sport and the Coaching Association of Canada is Canada Sport Week - a new program currently being developed by a group of organizations wishing to raise awareness about what sport offers to Canadian society.

The Corporate Excellence Award recognizes and celebrates a corporation's outstanding contribution to the betterment of sport: Suncor/Petro Canada
The Leadership Awards recognize and celebrate an individual's outstanding contribution to the betterment of sport: John Pickett
The Spirit of Sport Story of the Year category recognizes and celebrates Canadian heroes: Joannie Rochette
Nomination Eligibility
Any Canadian citizen can nominate an individual, team or corporation for the Canadian Sport Awards. Individuals and corporations can also self-nominate. Eligible entries were for performances or contributions from January 1, 2010 through to September 30, 2010.
