Winners of the 2018 Daily Bread Best in Class Awards Announced
New Categories Debuted to Highlight Work of Community Leaders
TORONTO, Sept. 26, 2018 /CNW/ - Compassion is the serum that keeps charitable organizations strong. Yesterday, Daily Bread Food Bank presented the Best in Class Awards to recognize individuals and organizations who demonstrate extraordinary commitment to alleviating hunger and poverty in Toronto.
The 6th Annual Best-in-Class awards was hosted by television and radio personality Jennifer Valentyne. "Tonight we are honouring those who are devoted to alleviating the hunger problem across Toronto," said Valentyne. "It's wonderful to be a part of this ceremony and acknowledge those that are working hard to help out Daily Bread."
CEO of Daily Bread, Neil Hetherington, also emphasized the importance of recognizing community leaders. "Advocates, volunteers and philanthropists really are the backbone of charitable organizations," Hetherington said. "This event not only acknowledges those who continue to give back, but it also highlights the upwards journey of non-profits thanks to these long-standing partnerships built over the years. Whether it be a volunteer helping out at a food drive or a corporation acknowledging their social responsibility, everyone has a role to play in the effort to curb poverty. This ceremony emphasizes exactly that," Hetherington added.
This year's award debuted three new categories. Food Industry Trailblazer, Exceptional Volunteer and Outstanding Philanthropist have been included to highlight the commitment companies and individuals have shown in the battle against food insecurity and hunger.
