Winners revealed for largest competition recognizing Canada's top photojournalists
VANCOUVER, May 25, 2014 /CNW/ - They are the best in their field, taking photos that capture in time some of life's most exciting, emotional and entertaining moments. The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) is pleased to recognize the work of Canada's most talented photojournalists in revealing the winners of the annual National Pictures of the Year (NPOY) awards competition.
More than 1,150 images and multimedia projects from across Canada were entered in this year's competition, representing the mastery of our country's leading photojournalists. These images have the power to tell stories that transcend language and cultural barriers and speak to a universal audience, and it takes incredible skill to capture such instances of triumph, defeat, and joy.
The winners were announced during the National Pictures of the Year Gala event at the Historic Sun Yet Sen Gardens in Vancouver, on May 24, 2014, BC. The NPOY photojournalism judging committee, made up of some of the most prominent and visionary photographers, editors and educators in visual journalism in North America, were tasked with judging the nominations.
