Winnipeg Law Firm takes on North America, and Wins

GRAPEVINE, Texas, March 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Winnipeg firm, Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson LLP took home top prize for their advertising campaign 'Aikins Was There' at the Legal Marketing Association's Your Honour Awards. The event is billed as the law industry's Oscars and Emmys rolled up in one. It is the longest-running annual North American event recognizing excellence in legal marketing. Aikins beat out international firms Sedgwick LLP and K&L Gates LLP to take first place in the advertising campaign category.

"We are very proud to be recognized by this award as it represents some of the largest firms in North America," says Marketing Manager Nicola Dempsey. "Aikins Law works with some amazing organizations and it was great to be able to showcase these partnerships and the stories of our clients through this meaningful campaign." Dempsey received the award on behalf of Aikins at the Legal Marketing Association conference in Grapevine, Texas on Thursday, March 15.

Think Shift Advertising Inc., a new Winnipeg firm that has quickly grown over the last two years to become one of the largest integrated agencies in the prairies, developed the "Aikins Was There" campaign. The campaign centered on the premise of sharing client success, telling stories of progress — how Manitoban companies have built their businesses, influenced the community, and become leaders in their industries. The campaign included print and web ads that first promoted the client's successes and then secondly spoke to Aikins' contribution.

"The Aikins brand was challenging to represent because the firm is so interested in their clients as opposed to promotion and as the industry leaders, their culture simply won't brag," says David Baker, Think Shift CEO. "What we did was find a way to represent their essence, which is to celebrate their clients' success and secondarily Aikins' role in helping them achieve it - 'Aikins Was There'.  We are thrilled it has worked out so well," Baker adds.
