Winter 2017 Disinclavement Program - Lower North Shore
QUÉBEC, Dec. 21, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société des traversiers du Québec (STQ) wishes to inform the population of the Lower North Shore and Anticosti that the winter disinclavement program (road and air services) that was implemented last year will be renewed for the 2017 season.
The maritime service provided by the MV Bella Desgagnés will be extended by three weeks as announced by Relais Nordik inc. in their press release dated December 8, 2017. Thereafter, the transportation of perishable goods will be conducted by road and air services according to the following dates:

The regular maritime service with the MV Bella-Desgagnés will resume on 3 April 2017.
The applicable rates for the road and air services during this disinclavement period will be the current 2016-2017 maritime transportation rates:

The STQ reminds that only the perishable goods provided for in the Nutrition North Program apply to the winter disinclavement program.
The Suppliers are:
- Distribution Côte-Nord, located in Baie-Comeau, for fruit, vegetables, meats and fish ;
- Natrel authorized distributor, located in Sept-Îles, for dairy products ;
- Pascal Doiron Authorized Distributor, located in Sept-Îles, for bakery products ;
- Charcuterie DET, located in Saint-Hilarion, for meats.
For the duration of the disinclavement program, orders must be put through before the Thursday at 4 p.m. to be delivered the next week by road and/or air. The first orders will have to be passed before Thursday February 2, 2017 at 4 p.m., to be delivered in the week of February 6, 2017.
With regards to the transportation of passengers, travelers are encouraged to consult the website of the ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l'Électrification des transports (MTMDET), in order to obtain information on the air rates reduction program (Programme de réduction des tarifs aériens (RTA)).
More details with respect to the winter disinclavement service for the Anticosti Island will be issued in January 2017.
