MONTREAL, Feb. 10, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - While this year's edition of the highly successful Fête des neiges de Montréal is over, the winter season continues at Parc Jean-Drapeau with a dozen winter activities every weekend until March 11. People of all ages will thus be able to enjoy this magnificent site and the joys of a Montréal winter by participating in their favourite outdoor activities.
"This extended winter offering ties in perfectly with Parc Jean-Drapeau's desire to put on an enhanced winter program which this year goes from three weekends to a three-month span," stated Société du parc Jean-Drapeau spokesperson Nathalie Lessard.
Visitors can choose from a dozen activities. Among the free activities, the Parc is offering an introduction to downhill skiing (for children aged 5 to 8), cross-country ski trails, open snowshoeing, a 1.5-kilometre skaters' path along the river, a giant foosball and the Wild About Nature experience at the Biosphère. Visitors are also able to rent skates, cross-country skis, snowshoes and sleds on site.
There is also an array of pay activities for the enjoyment of the entire family: zip-line, tube slide, dogsled and horse-drawn sleighrides, three activities at the Stewart Museum and, of course, the brand new Snow Village, which will remain open until March 31. Food concessions will be set up at the Parc every weekend.
Parc Jean-Drapeau is undoubtedly the ideal place for fun and frolic in the snow, and it's just five minutes from downtown Montréal. It's easily accessible by subway (Jean-Drapeau station). For further information, you can go to the Parc's website at parcjeandrapeau.com.
