THORNHILL, ON, March 21, 2014 /CNW/ - As Ontario grappled with bone-chilling temperatures and blizzard like conditions, here is a look at some of the service numbers for CAA South Central Ontario (CAA SCO) this past winter (from December 2013-January 2014):
Calls for service: approximately 550,000
Number of tows: more than 206,500
Batteries replaced: over to 13,500
CAA SCO experienced a 30 per cent increase in the number of calls dispatched from the same time period a year earlier.
On January 3, 2014, service was dispatched to over 9,500 members, a record for one day, due to the bitterly cold temperatures. To put it into perspective, on an average winter day, CAA SCO receives approximately 3,000 calls for service.
Meanwhile, to thank our members for their patience and loyalty during one of the worst winters in recent memory, CAA SCO is launching Share Your Snowmageddon Story contest. CAA members can share their winter stories for a chance to win a $5,000 travel voucher. The contest will run until April 3rd.
For over a hundred years, CAA has been helping Canadians stay mobile, safe and protected. CAA South Central Ontario is one of nine auto clubs across Canada providing roadside assistance, automotive care, travel products, insurance services and member savings for more than 1.9 million members.
