With a new name and an expanded vision, Canada's oldest magazine becomes Broadview
TORONTO, April 2, 2019 /CNW/ - Canada's oldest continuously published magazine is new again. With fully redesigned print and digital platforms, Broadview magazine will be on Canadian newsstands this month. Broadview, formerly known as The United Church Observer, brings a progressive Christian lens to spirituality, ethical living and social justice stories, while continuing to deliver news and views about The United Church of Canada.
"Evolving to meet the needs of our current and future readers is part of how we've thrived for 190 years," explains Jocelyn Bell, Broadview's publisher and editor. "As we approach two centuries of publishing, we believe now is the right time to celebrate our past, take stock of the present and create a new brand that will help to ensure our future."
The name, Broadview, signals the open-mindedness and inclusivity that the publication shares with its readers who are exploring what it means to live a purpose-filled, values-driven life.
"Issues of spirituality, ethical living and social justice are important to most Canadians," explains Bell. "Our goal with Broadview is to continue engaging people who understand that being spiritual or faithful requires both introspection and action. We believe Broadview offers a new community to all who embrace the values of progressive Christian Canadians. We look forward to sharing our publication widely."
This is the fourth name in the magazine's 190-year history. Broadview has been launched with the publication's May 2019 issue. It is scheduled to appear online, in mailboxes and on selected newsstands in early April 2019. The publication will celebrate its relaunch on April 9 at Toronto's Broadview Hotel (no affiliation).
