With "Bike Host" newcomers get to know Toronto by bike
TORONTO, April 13, 2012 /CNW/ - Newcomers to Toronto are invited to experience the cycling lifestyle this summer, thanks to a program created by CultureLink Settlement Services and the Toronto Cyclists Union. Bike Host matches new immigrants who are interested in cycling, with experienced mentors who ride regularly. "With this innovative program we connect our clients with the people, culture and landscape of Toronto" says Fei Tang, manager of the Community Connections Mentorship Program.
Nelson Diaz was in Toronto just three months when he joined Bike Host in 2011, hoping to practice his English and work in a project team with established Toronto residents. "The Bike Host experience has helped me a lot, to go into the job market," he says. "I'll be back in 2012, as a mentor."
The program begins Sat. April 21. Newcomers can register online at www.culturelink.ca.
