"With Glowing Hearts" JUNO Awards merchandise line launched
Limited edition line curated by
JUNO Award winner and Toronto Artist Justin Broadbent
TORONTO, March 16, 2016 /CNW/ - The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) today announced the launch of their official JUNO Awards merchandise line titled "With Glowing Hearts". A new initiative spearheaded to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the JUNO Awards, CARAS commissioned 2013 JUNO Award winner and Toronto based artist Justin Broadbent to design this year's merchandise. In partnership with the JUNO Awards Official Merchandise Supplier, Kill The 8, the line is currently available for online sales globally.
"Canada is a leader in the world when it comes to opening our hearts and accepting people with love. When the JUNO Awards asked me to make something for their 45th anniversary of celebrating music and art in Canada, I wanted it to have a message of inclusivity, diversity and kindness," said Justin Broadbent.
"I like making things that are simple yet multi-layered, which is why I often include words in my visual art. I chose 'With Glowing Hearts' since this phrase is familiar and iconic but, at the same time, conveys a much deeper message of hope and pride – taken from our national anthem and representing the core of what it means to be a Canadian. Our hearts shine brightly and radiate warmth. This motto speaks both to our history as a nation and to who we want to be in the future. With the current state of the world, it is important to trust and listen to our glowing hearts because we could all do with some more generosity, love and acceptance."
A 2013 JUNO Award winner for Recording Package of the Year for Metric's Synthetica album, Justin Broadbent has also directed music videos for Metric, Shad, The Wooden Sky and Dragonette, and was recently recognized by blogTO as one of ten up-and-coming Toronto artists you should know.
The "With Glowing Hearts" merchandise line is currently available online globally at http://www.kt8merch.com/junos and will also be available for purchase during JUNO Week 2016 events.
