Women Are Expecting Midwifery Care

Conference looks at how to best grow the profession

WHAT: The Annual Conference of the Association of Ontario Midwives (AOM) will focus on supporting the growth of midwifery.

WHO: More than 100 midwives.

WHAT:  Sessions will discuss the growth of the profession as well as the latest research on maternal and newborn health.

WHEN: May 15-17, 2012

WHERE: The Westin Prince Hotel, Toronto

"This year, the first class of the expanded Midwifery Education Program will graduate and push the number of Ontario midwives to more than 600," said Katrina Kilroy, president of the AOM. "As we reach this milestone, now is the time to look at how we can grow and shape the profession to best serve women and families and continue to provide optimal care throughout pregnancy and birth."

Midwife Lisa Kane Low, CNM, PhD
Maureen McTeer of White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood
