Women are shut out of networking systems which give access to leadership positions in the field of security and defense... The statement was made by Jolynn Shoemaker, director of WIIS International, Washington DC during a conference being held on May 25th -26th, 2012 in Montreal.

MONTREAL, May 26, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - WIIS is the only global network actively advancing women's leadership in the field of international peace and security.

WIIS Canada has invited leaders of the federal civil service, academia, the armed forces as well as in private industry to address the Montreal conference and to promote networking with the delegates comprised of women completing graduate studies in foreign policy.

The research activities done by these young scholars will someday influence policy… remarked Dr. Stéfanie von Hlatky, founder of the Canada chapter of WIIS and researcher for the Centre for International Peace and Security Studies at ETH in Zurich, Switzerland.
