TORONTO, Nov. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - Women in Capital Markets (WCM) and title sponsor EY today announced the 2013 winners of the WCM Rising Star Award and its Awards for Leadership during a luncheon held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.
In its fourth year, the WCM Rising Star Award honours an individual who is a high-performing role model at work and has made a lasting contribution by providing inspirational leadership and mentorship to young women in the industry. The winner of the 2013 WCM Rising Star Award is Mari Jensen, Director, Institutional Foreign Exchange Sales, Scotiabank.
The WCM Award for Leadership, now in its seventh year, recognizes senior executives, male and female, who have combined professional excellence with a demonstrated commitment to advancing and supporting women in capital markets. The Award for Leadership - Male was presented to Eric Tripp, President, BMO Capital Markets, and the Award for Leadership - Female was presented to Martine Irman, Vice Chair, TD Securities and Senior Vice President, TD Bank Group.
"Our award recipients are recognized through their individual leadership and contribution to Canadian capital markets," said Jennifer Reynolds, President of WCM. "These awards help advance the standards and performance of our industry by honouring extraordinary individuals and inspiring greater diversity."
The luncheon also included a presentation by keynote speaker Kirstine Stewart, Managing Director of Twitter Canada. Stewart is responsible for Canadian operations at Twitter, including its advertising business and partnerships, and was formerly executive vice-president of CBC's English services. She is an exemplary role model for women and men in corporate Canada and for the advancement of women into leadership roles.
