Women in Capital Markets Announces 2014 Recipients of WCM Return to Bay Street Award

TORONTO, Sept. 8, 2014 /CNW/ - Women in Capital Markets (WCM), a non-profit advocacy organization which promotes the entry and advancement of women into leadership roles in the industry, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2014 WCM Return to Bay Street (RTBS) Award. The RTBS Award is given to professional women who have taken a break from their successful careers in the capital markets industry and are now ready to re-launch their careers. These women are returning to roles in capital markets and represent a valuable pool of talent returned to the industry.

The 2014 award recipients are:

• Ellen Bernardeau
• Andreea Constantin
• Susan Cowan
• Robyn Harris Porter
• Helen Thomas
• Judy Tredgett

The 2014 award recipients will each receive $5,000 toward an education program, a paid four-month internship at BMO Capital Markets, National Bank Financial Markets, RBC Capital Markets or Scotiabank, a WCM mentor and a one-year WCM Membership.

"This program recognizes the economic value of returning women to senior roles in the industry and ensuring that leadership teams have strong representation of women," said Jennifer Reynolds, CEO of Women in Capital Markets. "I congratulate these talented women on re-launching their careers and I know they will all have a profound impact on the industry."

Launched in 2010 by WCM and founding sponsor BMO Capital Markets, through funding from their Equity Through Education program, the WCM RTBS Awards Program assists talented women with a previous career in capital markets to re-launch a full-time career in Canadian capital markets after an extended period of absence from the industry. The Program includes a 1-day conference designed to educate women about opportunities in the industry and prepare them to return to the industry, and an award component that provides an education grant, a paid internship at one of BMO Capital Markets, National Bank Financial Markets, RBC Capital Markets or Scotiabank, a WCM mentor and a one-year WCM Membership.

In 2013, RTBS award winners included Barbara Glassford, Christine MacDonald and Rakhi Tejani, each of whom has successfully translated her internship into a full time role in the industry.
