Women In Need Society (WINS) teams up with ENMAX employees in clothing drive
CALGARY, Aug. 31 /CNW/ - For the second year in a row, the Women In Need Soceity of Calgary (WINS) has teamed up with employees of the ENMAX group of companies in a clothing drive to support WINS clients.
Employees at four ENMAX locations across the city have generously donated slightly used women's, men's and children's clothing and accessories.
"In 2009, our employees donated 78 industrial-sized garbage bags worth of clothing and other articles through our Women's Initiative Network, " said Liz Soria, committee chair. "This year, a record-setting 155 bags were donated, a substantial increase over the previous year and a tremendous show of support for this worthwhile organization."
The items donated in this corporate clothing drive will be picked up at ENMAX Place this Wednesday and sold at the four WINS thrift stores in the city as well as given out through the WINS Free Goods Referral program.
"Revenue generated through our thrift stores is used to help fund our community programs and are we are so pleased to be working with ENMAX again this year," said Janice Grant, Development & Community Relations manager at WINS. "Corporate support is one of the keys to our success and it's an easy way for employees to give back to the community."
WINS is a charitable not-for-profit organization in Calgary. Established in 1992, WINS' mission is to help women and their families help themselves.
