Nominations for annual Top 100 Awards, recognizing amazing women across our country, close July 1
TORONTO, May 22, 2019 /CNW/ - Women's Executive Network (WXN) created Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards to recognize the incredible accomplishments of women, develop a community of support, and increase the visibility of strong leaders in order to inspire future generations. Honourees span the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with the initial candidates selected by WXN's Diversity Council. The awards provide winners with a stronger voice and platform to advocate for gender equality in all aspects of a person's personal and professional life.
"Our country is full of outstanding women who have advocated for diversity in the workforce, and who serve as an inspiration for the next generation of leaders," said Sherri Stevens, WXN's CEO. "Top 100 Awards recognizes female leaders who are not only driving positive change and progress, but also to remind us of the importance of empowering women in our workforce and in communities across Canada regardless of race, sexual orientation, abilities, or cultural background."
This year, WXN announced two new categories: Science and Technology, and Industry and Trades. Women perform just as well as men in the sciences and skilled trades, and bring many additional skills and perspectives as well, and these new awards will recognize recipients who have made significant contributions to the advancement of women through their inspiring work and advocacy in these underrepresented sectors.
Other categories recognize achievement in areas such as arts, sports and entertainment, entrepreneurship, corporate directorship, emerging leadership, and more. For full list of categories, click here.
Past award winners include: best-selling author Margaret Atwood, astronaut Dr. Roberta Bondar, entrepreneur Arlene Dickinson, television personality and journalist Marci Ien, activist and author Maayan Ziv, doctor Nirvani Umadat, among others.
