Women's Executive Network Celebrates International Women's Day and Opens Search for Canada's Most Powerful Women
Women's Executive Network starts nomination phase for annual Top 100 Awards
TORONTO, March 8, 2018 /CNW/ - The Women's Executive Network (WXN) officially announces the launch of nominations for Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards on International Women's Day, to recognize the incredible accomplishments of women in leadership roles. Applications are open to the public.
Launched in 2003, the Canada's most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards celebrate the incredible accomplishments of women in leadership roles, as well as their organizations and networks. The Awards serve to recognize leaders and inspire the current and next generations to push the boundaries of what's possible. Nominations are now open online through May 15, 2018.
"We look to International Women's Day as the perfect time to launch nominations for the Top 100 Awards. For over 20 years WXN has been empowering women, which makes this day a great reminder of the importance of showcasing female leaders," said Sherri Stevens, CEO of WXN. "These initiatives help to drive positive change and progress which assists to ensure that gender diversity and equity is achieved in all walks of life."
Through the Top 100 Awards, WXN not only celebrates the achievement of women but also supports several initiatives that promote mentorship and networking opportunities for the next generation of young leaders. Funds raised by the silent auction fund the important work of the WXN Foundation, which provides $100,000 in entrance-level scholarships across the country through its Scholarship Fund, with a focus on Fine Arts, Engineering, Aboriginal Business and Entrepreneurship.
About the Top 100 Awards
The Top 100 Awards span the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with recipients selected by an independent advisory board. To date, 1004 powerful women have been given this prestigious award. The list of Award Winners is revealed the day prior to the Leadership Summit and Awards Gala, which will take place Thursday, November 22, 2018.
Nominations are accepted for several categories, including recognizing women who are excelling in business, the public sector, within professional associations, the arts, sports and entertainment arena, entrepreneurs, future leaders and trailblazers breaking new ground. This year WXN is excited to announce a new category, emerging leaders, which will further introduce young professionals to the network.
Previous Award Winners include Margaret Atwood, Dr. Roberta Bondar, Arlene Dickinson, Christine Magee, Michaëlle Jean, Heather Reisman, and Kathleen Taylor.
