TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - PwC Canada is pleased to announce that Sonia Boisvert, partner and Assurance leader of the firm's Greater Montréal office, is the recipient of the Women's Executive Network's (WXN) 2018 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards. The awards celebrate the achievements of inspiring and talented women who are paving the way for current and future generations.
Sonia Boisvert joined PwC Canada over 25 years ago. A highly regarded member of the firm's Quebec Leadership Team, she received the prestigious Fellow CPA designation in 2017 for her contributions to the accounting profession.
A trailblazer for women in business, she seeks to foster the development of talent and business acumen among the young leaders of tomorrow. Drawing on her ability to inspire and empower the next generation, she is a role model and thought leader for the entire industry.
"Skills development is the best means of shaping the new crop of promising leaders and entrepreneurs. Giving the next generation a voice is key to ensuring long-term viability of entrepreneurship," said Sonia Boisvert. "I know my career wouldn't have been the same without the many people who have helped me grow and develop over the past 25 years. I am very grateful to each of them for everything they have done to support me."
Sonia Boisvert's leadership skills and professional contributions are recognized globally thanks to her role in the G500, PwC's elite global group of partners. In this capacity, she was part of a multinational team whose recommendations led to a partnership with Smart City and the creation of a PwC University in China.
"We are very proud to see Sonia's talent and accomplishments recognized by WXN. She plays a significant role in creating the next generation of leaders inside and outside of PwC Canada. Sonia is known for building strong and lasting relationships, and inspiring those around her to achieve success. Her ability to bring perspectives together, make a difference and solve our clients' important problems makes her a highly valuable and trusted advisor in the marketplace," said Nicolas Marcoux, Chief Executive Officer and Senior Partner, PwC Canada. "Congratulations to Sonia on this well-deserved recognition."
In addition to having served as National Leader of the Retail and Consumer Goods group, Sonia set up a major practice area in Montréal known as Family Inc., a concept that has grown to encompass all of the firm's Canadian offices. In 2016, she received the Université de Sherbrooke's Young Business Leader award for her remarkable record of accomplishments at PwC and her leadership skills. She currently serves on the board of the Jeunes en Tête Foundation, as well as CPA-Quebec (OCPAQ) and PwC Canada.
