MONTREAL, Sept. 17, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform its customers that the Place Dupuis entrance of the Berri-UQAM station, located at 850 Boulevard de Maisonneuve East, will be closed from September 19 to December 18 for repairs.
This closing will enable the STM to repair the concrete slab, replace the floor covering and the stairs, replace the swing doors with butterfly doors - including one automatic door - repair the ceilings, replace light fixtures, and carry out other electrical and mechanical work.
While this work is being done, the station will still be accessible via the Berri Street entrance. No bus stops will be moved.
The work will be carried out in two stages. As of October 25 and until the work is finished, Place Dupuis will be accessible from inside the Berri-UQAM station.
With 12.6 million customers passing through its turnstyles each year, Berri-UQAM is the busiest métro station in the STM transit system. Major repairs begun in summer 2010 are expected to be finished in 2017.
This work is being carried out as part of the Major repairs to the Berri-UQAM station project, in which Transports Québec and the STM are financial partners.
For further information, the STM invites its customers to visit www.stm.info/travaux or to call 514 STM-INFO.
