MONTREAL, April 24, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform customers that the Berri entrance to the Berri-UQAM station, located at 1500 Berri, will be temporarily closed from April 25 to September 11, 2013 to carry out renovation work.
This will enable the STM to proceed with repair of the concrete slab and replacement of the flooring, to replace the stairs and to install butterfly-style doors, including a motorized one, to replace the swing doors. The renovations will also include repairing the brick walls, installing a new wall covering, improving the lighting and, finally, carrying out certain electrical and mechanical work.
Throughout the project, clients will be able to access the station via the Sainte-Catherine Street entrance. No bus stops will be relocated.
It should be mentioned that the Berri-UQAM station, the busiest in the network with 12.6 million turnstile entries annually, has been undergoing major renovations since the summer of 2010, which should be completed in 2017.
This work is part of the Major Renovation project for the Berri-UQAM station in which Transports Québec and the STM are financial partners.
