MONTREAL, Oct. 2, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform customers that the Viger entrance of the Square-Victoria métro station, located at 601 Viger Avenue West, will be closed from October 7 to December 15 for repairs.
This will enable the STM to repair the structural slab and the concrete sidewalk in front of the entrance doorway, replace the butterfly doors and the windows, upgrade the flooring, replace the lighting, and carry out some electrical and mechanical work.
Work on the platforms - involving mainly the wall finishes and stairways - is on-going and will be finished by late November.
The station will remain accessible at all times via the Saint-Antoine entrance, although some passengers may have to leave the building to reach their offices. STM personnel will be on hand for the first two days to guide customers, and signs will be posted for the duration of the work. No bus stops will be moved. In addition, the Belmont entrance, which was also closed for repairs, will re-open on October 7.
Note that Square-Victoria station was opened in 1967 and is used by some five million passengers annually.
This work is part of the Réno-Infrastructures program, jointly financed by Transports Québec and the STM.
For further details, the STM invites customers to visit www.stm.info/en/works or to call 514 STM-INFO.
