OTTAWA, Dec. 9, 2016 /CNW/ – The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited wishes to inform the public and all its stakeholders, that a new collective agreement has been reached with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) Union Local 501. As of Monday, December 12, 2016, at 6:00 AM, all employees will be back to work and operations will be returning to normal.
We understand that this labour disruption has been difficult for many people and again, the Corporation is truly grateful to its patrons and the public for their patience and support. We are delighted that all employees will be returning to their regular duties to provide exceptional service to Canadians.
Micheline Dubé, FBCL President and Chief Executive Officer said "We are delighted that an agreement could finally be reached. We are particularly happy that all the employees at the Blue Water Bridge will be returning to their regular duties before the Christmas holiday with their families and friends."
The new five-year agreement will come to an end in November 2019, allowing for increased stability as we focus on building strong relationships with our partners and clients. Over the course of the contract, there will be a 10% wage and benefits increase which includes a general wage increase, increased shift premiums, and additional leave benefits.
The Corporation is truly grateful to the travelling public, all its stakeholders and its employees for their efforts throughout this difficult period.
