World Champion curler Glenn Howard promotes Beer Store values
TORONTO, April 7, 2014 /CNW/ - Beer Store Manager and four-time World Champion curler Glenn Howard is featured in a new ad campaign highlighting the Beer Store's role in preventing underage drinking.
"We refuse to sell to anyone without proper ID or anyone who may be intoxicated. It's just the right thing to do and that's always the right call," says Howard, the Manager of the Midland Beer Store, in the online and television ad.
Each year, the Beer Store challenges 3.6 million Ontarians suspected of being underage or intoxicated. Of those, more than 111,000 people are refused service.
Jeff Newton, President of Canada's National Brewers added: "The Beer Store's 7,000 staff are highly-trained and responsible. Research shows that convenience stores and gas stations routinely sell tobacco to minors. That's one reason why they cannot be trusted to responsibly sell alcohol."
The new ad is produced by OntarioBeerFacts.ca, which is encouraging public dialogue about the negative consequences of letting convenience stores sell beer, wine and hard liquor. See the ad at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3Zh5s2iTQ
