Senior Indian executives, officials to offer latest market intelligence & layout latest regulatory framework for attracting Canadian mining companies
TORONTO, Sept. 20 /CNW/ - A three-day Canada-India Mining and Metals Forum, which offers a rare opportunity to engage on a one-on-one basis with senior Indian government officials and corporate executives, will be held from September 27 to September 29, 2010 at the Toronto Marriott Bloor hotel.
Endorsed by PDAC, the Forum seeks to demystify the challenges around emerging investment opportunities flowing in and out of India. It also aims at promoting Canada's know-how, experience and technical expertise across the entire value chain of mining activities including mining finance, M&A, governance and sustainable development. Canadian mining investors and corporate leaders will hear first-hand from senior Indian government officials on the latest regulatory and policy developments. Speakers include the likes of Mr. S. Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Government of India, one of the key policy-makers behind these regulations.
The Forum offers a unique opportunity to connect with senior executives from India. "If a Canadian mining company or investor is seeking to better understand what the Indian market is looking for, this is THE conference for them. It offers the education as well as the connections," said Mr. Manoj Pundit, the co-chair of the Forum. Some of the key speakers include Canadian government officials, ministers, Indian corporate executives from Hindustan Copper, NMDC, Tata Steel and Canadian executives from Cameco, Sherritt, Teck, PDAC and Federation of Indian Mining Industries (FIMI).
"India offers a burgeoning demand for non-ferrous, precious metals, uranium, coke and potash. Indian conglomerates are also investing globally to acquire new resource bases. As mining leaders, Canadians need to better understand the opportunity India offers and make the most of it," said Dr. V.I. Lakshmanan, co-chair of the Forum."
