World's Biggest Lotto Kicks Off Blogger Contests In Canada with Record 100,000-Euro Prize

The BiLLe Lotto unveils Best Blogger Canada, the first in a series of worldwide social media competitions, each with a €100,000 (CDN $130,000) prize

ST. JOHNS, Antigua, May 16, 2012 /CNW/ - Canada's best blogger is soon to be crowned--and generously rewarded. The BiLLe Lotto today begins accepting submissions for Best Blogger Canada, where Twitterers and bloggers compete for a €100,000.00 payroll. "It's the biggest cash reward ever offered in a contest of this kind," says The BiLLe's social media strategist Felicia Dewar. "The payroll is one-third bigger than the previous record set by MTV, because ours is paid out in Euros."

Bloggers enter by submitting a short introduction video, plus links to their blog and social media profiles until June 7. Judges make initial selections, and play-offs are conducted by Internet voting. The winner will be announced August 2. There is no cost to participate but contestants and voters must be at least 18 years old and a citizen or resident of Canada.

The winning blogger receives €100,000.00, paid in 12 monthly installments. The job requires 20 hours per week of blogging, performed on the winner's own schedule.

Subsequent editions of the contest will be held in other eligible countries, determined by the number of interested local bloggers and jurisdictional regulations, says Ms. Dewar. "We have players in 41 countries, and the current leaders after Canada are the UK, Poland and Germany. It will be exciting to see who is next."

The contest begins at 8 pm MDT May 16 with a Canada-wide "Twitter Party" co-hosted by a roster of popular bloggers including:
