TORONTO, March 23, 2016 /CNW/ - Wounded Warriors Canada is proud to announce the launch of their first-ever Veterans Child Scholarship (VCS) benefiting military families. Through the generous support of the founding sponsors at The Bay Street Children's Foundation, CIBC Capital Markets, RBC, and ITG, beginning this September the $40,000 VCS will fund the first year of full-time post secondary education for 8 children whose parent(s) is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran, serving or retired, affected by Operational Stress Injuries (OSI) – including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Wounded Warriors Canada is profoundly aware of the life changing impact that mental health injuries have on our military families and, specifically, the children. The announcement of this post secondary scholarship represents WWC's first initiative focused on the children of our ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans. Deadline to apply for the 2016-2017 school year is June 1st, 2016.
Phil Ralph, National Program Director of Wounded Warriors Canada, commented, "This is a proud day for our charity as it represents our first program investment that directly supports the children of our ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces members and Veterans. This announcement is possible thanks to the support of the programs founding sponsors at The Bay Street Children's Foundation, CIBC Capital Markets, RBC and ITG and further represents how partnerships make our programs possible."
James Duncan, Founder of The Bay Street Children's Foundation, commented, "We are honoured to take part in this wonderful project and believe there is no better cause than helping children – especially the children of those men and women who have so selflessly served our country."
