WSIB Posts Searchable Drug Formularies
TORONTO, Jan. 25, 2017 /CNW/ - The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has posted its drug formularies, with interactive search capability, on its website.
"Improving transparency and our service orientation in relation to our drug benefit program and all of our operations is a priority," said Tom Teahen, WSIB President and CEO. "Posting the drug formularies is an important way we can increase transparency. To help users navigate the lists, we made them searchable for ease of use."
We are committed to ensuring injured workers have the right medication, at the right time, for the right purpose. Our drug formularies contain over 15,000 medications and the WSIB spends approximately $62 million every year on drug benefits for injured workers.
"We're listening to our stakeholders and want to make it easier for them to access information," added Teahen. "By publishing the formularies, we hope to provide more information to physicians and pharmacists to assist them in making decisions about an injured worker's healthcare."
The WSIB is the first worker's compensation board in Canada to make this information publicly available in a searchable format.
