Xerox named one of Canada's Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations
TORONTO, June 22 /CNW/ - Xerox has been named one of Canada's Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations by Maclean's magazine. The annual ranking selects companies based on their performance across a broad range of environmental, social and governance indicators. Xerox was chosen for its inclusive culture and diverse workforce; its development of products that contribute directly to sustainability; and partnerships with notable environmental organizations, such as the Nature Conservancy.
The Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations in Canada were selected based on their performance across a broad range of environmental, social, and governance indicators by Jantzi-Sustainalytics - a global leader in sustainability research and analysis. The selected companies ranked at the top of their respective peer groups in Jantzi-Sustainalytics' Global Platform, and demonstrated strong performance in areas such as environmental initiatives, impact on local communities, treatment of employees and supply-chain management.
"Our commitment to behaving responsibly as a corporate citizen has been a core value for more than four decades," said Mandy Shapansky, CEO and president-designate, Xerox Canada*. "This endorsement of our reputation is a wonderful recognition of the time, energy and compassion of Xerox employees who contribute to the quality of life in communities across Canada every day."
For more than 40 years, Xerox has demonstrated leadership in citizenship and sustainability in its products and facilities by investing in innovation that delivers measurable benefits to the environment. In 2009, Xerox Canada was named CWC Employer of the Year, Best Diversity Employer, Top 75 Employer in the GTA, and was a finalist of Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures. Xerox is the only multi-national document technology company in the world conducting advanced materials research in Canada, and employs more than 3,500 people nation-wide.
Each of the companies named one of the Top 50 Socially Responsible Corporations in Canada is either Canadian-listed or a wholly owned subsidiary of a foreign-listed company with significant operations or brand presence in Canada.
