Desjardins Foundation to donate a total of $102,000 to charitable organizations
MONTREAL, Aug. 25, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - For the third consecutive year, Desjardins Foundation is calling all volunteers working with non-profit organizations to submit their applications for the Desjardins Foundation Prizes - Volunteer Involvement.
Desjardins officers, employees and caisse members in Quebec and Ontario are eligible. Applications must be submitted on the Desjardins Foundation website before October 19, 2014. The selected candidates will receive $1,000 to donate to the organization they support. If their organization is not registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), they can donate the prize money to a registered charity of their choice.
This year Desjardins Foundation will give away a total of $102,000 to charitable organizations in Quebec and Ontario. The Foundation—through the commitment of caring individuals—will have donated approximately $290,000 to charitable organizations over three years.
The Foundation believes that volunteering contributes to regional growth; therefore, the winners will be selected by a committee in each region.
"Volunteers often work behind the scenes—they deserve to be recognized. That's why Desjardins Foundation is bringing back the Desjardins Foundation Prizes – Volunteer Involvement for a third edition. These prizes highlight the contribution and commitment of these individuals to the social and economic well-being of their communities," said Desjardins Foundation Director Louise Marie Brousseau.
