WHITEHORSE, YT, July 18, 2016 /CNW/ - Canada's Premiers will meet at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre in Whitehorse, Yukon July 21-22.
"I look forward to welcoming my fellow Premiers to Yukon for the first-ever Council of the Federation meeting to be held in Canada's North," said Premier Darrell Pasloski, who assumes the Chair of the Council at the summer meeting. "I look forward to addressing a number of important issues and finding innovative and collaborative paths forward, as we showcase Yukon's rich culture, geography and vibrant economy."
On July 21, Premiers will discuss economic growth and trade. Discussions will focus on economic productivity and innovation, infrastructure, trade and energy, as well as other priority issues.
On July 22, Premiers will discuss a range of topics including health care, climate change and disaster management.
A closing news conference is planned for the afternoon of July 22.
The Council of the Federation comprises all 13 provincial and territorial Premiers. It enables Premiers to work collaboratively, form closer ties, foster constructive relationships among governments and show leadership on important issues that matter to Canadians.
