MONTREAL, Aug. 12, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Richard W. Pound, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Foundation of Greater Montreal (FGM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Yvan Gauthier as President and CEO. "The Board found in Mr. Gauthier a seasoned leader known for his thoroughness in creative and strategic management. Our board of directors is convinced he will make the FGM even more dynamic and relevant, to the benefit of Greater Montréal". Mr. Gauthier, who becomes the third CEO of the organization, succeeds former CEOs Kathleen Weil and Marina Boulos.
Between 2004 and 2013, Yvan Gauthier was CEO of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) a major government organization. Under his leadership, the CALQ won the first Prix du rayonnement international for its Studios et résidences program and the third Prix Fonction publique for its Mécénat Placements culture program both awarded by the Institut d'administration publique du Québec in 2010. Prior to that, Yvan Gauthier had held senior management positions with the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec, the Regroupement Loisir Québec, and the Ve Biennale internationale des villes d'hiver as part of the 350th anniversary of the City of Montréal. He has also been president of a number of Québec and Canadian organizations and groups. Mr. Gauthier has completed the requirements for a Master's degree in economic history and holds a Bachelor's degree in cultural animation from the UQAM.
He will take office on September 3.
About the FGM
The FGM is a charitable organisation dedicated to the well-being of the Greater Montréal community. To that end, it establishes and manages endowment funds and distributes their income in the form of grants to local organizations working in the areas of health, social development, arts and culture, education, and the environment.
