CALGARY, May 16, 2019 /CNW/ - YWCA Calgary is pleased to announce a new partnership with Enbridge Inc. focused on building and connecting community in the YW Hub facility in Inglewood– the new home of YW.
The new purpose-built facility will provide safe spaces and hope for women and families who have experienced difficult challenges in their lives such as unemployment, isolation, poverty and family violence. By also offering spaces specifically designed to include community, the YW Hub facility will be a place of activity and engagement for all Calgarians.
"We are deeply honoured to have Enbridge as the first Calgary-based corporation to make a significant gift to the Transformation Campaign and join us on this historic journey" says Sue Tomney, Chief Executive Officer, YW Calgary. "This fall, our neighbours in Inglewood, our partners in the sector and the women and families we serve will be welcomed into a bright and bustling building offering leading-edge programming thanks to community partners like Enbridge."
Enbridge has proudly contributed $500,000 to YW's Transformation Campaign which supports the YW's focus on providing sustainable, uninterrupted access to programs and services necessary for women and families to thrive. This significant gift will empower the YW Community Kitchen which provides opportunities for YW families and the community to connect.
"Our focus is building a strong and safer community for everyone," says Byron Neiles, Enbridge's Executive Vice President, Corporate Services. "Food is a focal point for family and community which is why the kitchen is the heart of any home. We are proud to support YW's Community Kitchen to fuel connections in our community and help offer the comfort that makes a house a home."
The new YW Hub facility will offer supports for women through transitional housing and family supports including counselling, language and employment skills training, parenting programs and childcare spaces. The design of this facility will offer new ways to engage employees, clients, volunteers and community partners.
From more than a century, YW Calgary has evolved to meet changing needs of women and community. The YW Transformation Campaign is the next step in this evolution. For more information, visit www.YWSheMatters.ca.
