VAUGHAN, ON, April 10, 2019 /CNW/ - Today, a $2 million gift was announced by the Zanchin Automotive Group to support world-class health care in Vaughan and across York Region. The gift will go towards the Mackenzie Health Foundation's Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign to help build and equip the new Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital and enhance care at the Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.
The gift will directly fund a bank of modern, accessible hospital elevators designed to help patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers navigate with ease through the new state-of-the-art Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. This is a natural reflection of how the region's largest Automotive Dealer group enhances the mobility of the people who live here.
"We are in the mobility business. At Zanchin, we provide our customers with the mobility that suits their needs. Similarly, the new hospital needs to provide its patients and staff with mobility, and we saw a perfect fit," says Laura and Andria Zanchin, both Executive Vice Presidents of the Zanchin Automotive Group.
This investment reflects the Zanchin Group's deep roots in the community. "As business owners in the Vaughan community for more than 46 years, we have grown as Vaughan has grown," says Joe Zanchin, CEO of the Zanchin Automotive Group. "In that time, we have been passionate supporters of community-based initiatives, building lifetime relationships with our clients and employees, and we feel that this state-of-the- art hospital is a natural expression of our love for the community. We truly hope our donation encourages other potential donors to do the same," says Zanchin.
Mackenzie Health Foundation's Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign is the largest fundraising drive led by a community hospital in Canada, with a mission to raise $250 million to support Mackenzie Health in caring for the increasing health care needs of its growing communities.
"We are grateful for the support and generosity of Zanchin Automotive," says Altaf Stationwala, President and CEO, Mackenzie Health. "On behalf of Mackenzie Health and our community, thank you for your leadership."
"The leadership and generosity of the Zanchin Automotive Group will help create exceptional patient experiences," says Ingrid Perry, President and CEO of the Mackenzie Health Foundation. "We are grateful for this transformational gift and excited about getting closer to opening our doors to bring world-class care close to home."
The hospital is scheduled to open in late 2020 to complement the care received at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. It will feature fully integrated smart technology systems and medical devices – a national first for any community hospital.
"This remarkable donation of $2 million was made possible by the Zanchin Automotive Group," says the Honourable Maurizio Bevilacqua, Mayor of Vaughan. "This selfless contribution marks yet another important milestone for the completion of Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. Building this hospital is about investing in the health and well-being of our citizens and ensuring we all have access to world-class frontline health care for generations to come. As co-chair of the Mackenzie Health Foundation's Exceptional Care Belongs Here campaign, I am in awe of the generosity of this community, including local leaders like Joe Zanchin, CEO of Zanchin Automotive Group. We have well surpassed the $100 million mark and we are very confident to reach our goal. The ongoing construction of Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital is an example of what we can achieve when we work together."
