Zehrs Markets and Real Canadian Superstores in Windsor, Leamington, Chatham, Kingsville and Sarnia to remain open during strike action by UFCW local 175 & 633
BRAMPTON, ON, July 2, 2015 /CNW/ - Loblaw Companies Limited (TSX:L) will continue to operate all nine stores affected by labour disruptions in Windsor, Leamington, Chatham, Kingsville and Sarnia. The nine stores, including five Real Canadian Superstores and four Zehrs Markets, will remain open with some modification to store hours (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and reduction of some in-store services.
The labour disruption, effective 12:01 a.m. today, relates to a rejected tentative agreement between Loblaw and the United Food and Commercial Workers union, local UFCW 175 & 633.
"In light of the union's decision to reject our offer and to strike, we have turned our attention to serving local customers and supporting our colleagues who will continue to serve them in all nine stores," said Kevin Groh, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Loblaw Companies Limited.
