ZEISS expands 3D optical measurement line with new COMET L3D 2 Base
MAPLE GROVE, Minn., July 6, 2017 /CNW/ -- ZEISS introduces the new model with two of the most commonly used and essential application lenses, giving more customers access to advanced optical 3D technology. The ZEISS COMET® L3D 2 Base sensor quickly captures millions of surface points and now quickly visualizes them in real time as a 3D model in CALYPSO software. This accelerates inspection time significantly during development and production processes.
The ZEISS COMET L3D 2 Base provides lower cost of ownership with the 100 mm and 250 mm lenses. No arbitrary selection, as Andreas Fuchs, Product Manager of Carl Zeiss Optotechnik GmbH emphasizes, but the "result of an extensive analysis of the measurement tasks of our customers." Around 75 percent of all companies, as the Product Manager estimates, would use the 100 mm and 250 mm lenses.
The latest ZEISS technology and software are used in the COMET L3D 2 Base. The system's configuration comes with a carefully selected set of components for ease of use: scanner with 2 FOV (field of view) lenses; Colin3D and CALYPSO Manual software, including curve and freeform applications; tripod; rotary table; PELI case. Colin3D software offers intelligent lighting control to maximize data capture on highly reflective surfaces. CALYPSO Manual software enables dimensional measurement and also includes PiWeb reporting, making the display and reporting of data easier.
The ZEISS COMET L3D 2 Base can be used for a broad spectrum of applications ranging from quality control, toolmaking and mold construction to rapid manufacturing and reverse engineering. ZEISS Industrial Metrology provides customers local support for applications and software, including contract inspection services. ZEISS COMET L3D 2 Base is available for immediate order from ZEISS Industrial Metrology or its authorized dealers.
