- The 2015 Subaru Impreza impresses in IIHS testing, earning 2014 TSP and TSP+ awards.
- Subaru has more 2014 IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK vehicles than any other brand.
- Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS TOP SAFETY PICKs for all models for five consecutive years (2010-2014).
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 21, 2014 /CNW/ - Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) today announced its good rating and 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK award for the 2015 Subaru Impreza. For the 2015 model year, Subaru has newly introduced its front crash prevention system, EyeSight, on the Impreza. Models equipped with the optional preventative safety technology have achieved a superior rating and 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The redesigned 2015 Impreza achieved the highest possible rating of Good in the Institute's crashworthiness evaluations of front small overlap, front moderate overlap, side impact, roof crush and rear impact. The vehicle also received a Superior rating in the Institute's front crash prevention testing. Subaru Impreza models earn superior ratings for front crash prevention when equipped with EyeSight, an optional forward collision warning system with autobrake. In track evaluations, the system completely stopped the vehicle in the Institute's 12 and 25 mph front crash avoidance tests.
Subaru has the most 2014 TOP SAFETY PICK awards of any brand. Seven Subaru models, including the Legacy, Outback, Forester, BRZ, WRX/STI and XV Crosstrek (model year 2014), have earned 2014 safety awards from the IIHS. To qualify for Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn a good or acceptable rating for small overlap protection, as well as good ratings in the Institute's moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. TOP SAFETY PICK+ winners must meet those same criteria and also earn a basic, advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention. The 2015 Subaru Forester, Legacy and Outback have also been recognized with TSP+ awards for having achieved a superior standard of safety with the highest rating possible for front crash prevention.
"Subaru is the only manufacturer to have TOP SAFETY PICKs for all models for five years running (2010-2014)," said Shiro Ohta, chairman, president and CEO of Subaru Canada, Inc. "Our dedication to safety, performance, versatility and durability is what helps us consistently rank as one of the industry's top manufacturers and helps us surpass all previous annual sales records year after year."
Subaru introduced the new 2015 Impreza this fall, featuring new exterior and interior styling, enhanced infotainment systems and improved fuel economy starting from $19,995. Subaru's advanced active safety system, EyeSight, is available for the first time on Impreza models. The EyeSight system is available on 2015 Impreza models from $26,395, and integrates Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking, and Vehicle Lane Departure Warning by utilizing Subaru-developed stereo camera technology. Available in sedan or hatchback, the Subaru Impreza offers safety, versatility, fuel efficiency and fun behind the wheel within the compact car segment.
