MONTREAL, April 17, 2014 /CNW/ - The Montreal Diet Dispensary (the "Dispensary") is inviting the public to its second annual Mother's Day benefit lunch at the hotel Hyatt Regency Montreal on May 9, 2014 from 12:00 to 2:00. Florence K, the Dispensary's spokesperson, will be on hand as well as actor and author Martin Larocque, who will be the event's MC.
"It is a pleasure for me to be part of the Dispensary family," says Florence K. "This is a place of peace and respite for future mothers, giving them the chance to offer their babies the best pre- and post-natal care possible. As a mother, I know how much the health and well-being of our children is important to us, and for this reason I want thank you all for your continued support of the Dispensary and its work."
For Martin Larocque, father and author of books on parenting, "Supporting parents and families who need help is not an act of generosity, of altruism or of pity. Supporting the birth of a child in the best circumstances possible is simply essential! This is what the Dispensary has loudly and proudly been doing for the last 134 years and there is more to be done. Because all children are our children."
The money raised during the Dispensary's benefit event will go towards supporting the activities of underprivileged pregnant women in Greater Montreal, in particular by offering every client individual consultations with a nutritionist; providing a liter of milk, an egg, flaxseed and a multivitamin daily; and participating in group activities. The benefit is clear: each dollar invested by the Dispensary enables our health care system to save eight dollars in health costs.
The event is organized by the Dispensary with the kind collaboration of Cava Rose, and is supported by CN, the Dairy Producers of Canada, Fasken Martineau, Massy Forget Langlois Public Relations, Agence Braque and Témoin Production.
Individual tickets cost $250. For business, a variety of partnership and sponsorship models are available. More information can be found at the Dispensary's website.
About the Dispensary
Founded in 1879, the Dispensary offers nutritional and moral support every year to some 2000 economically disadvantaged women during their pregnancy and during the first few months after the birth of their baby. Thanks to its unique, proven method of intervention, the Higgins© method, only 3% of mothers who are followed by the Dispensary have a low weight baby (2012-2013). Without this intervention, this rate can be as high as 12% in this at-risk population. The Dispensary also encourages breastfeeding and assists with the women developing self-confidence and obtaining the knowledge necessary for each mother to be her best for her family.
