TORONTO, July 12, 2012 /CNW/ - The Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) and the Assembly of First Nations (AFN) will present the annual FPAC/AFN Aboriginal Forest Products Business Leadership Award at the Assembly of First Nations Annual General Meeting in Toronto, Ontario on Tuesday, July 17th.
The award celebrates a First Nations business leader for his or her success in the forest products industry. The winner must exemplify superior business leadership, exceptional environmental and safety performance while delivering high-quality products and services. The award recipient must also demonstrate a strong, long-term commitment to the Aboriginal community particularly in supporting Aboriginal employment.
Presentation of the award will take place at noon on the Trade Show Floor. FPAC President, Catherine Cobden and NB/PEI Regional Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Roger Augustine, Chair of the Chiefs Committee on Economic Development will present the award to the winner.

About the Award:
The Aboriginal Forest Products Business Leadership Award was created by the AFN and FPAC to showcase aboriginal entrepreneurs. The winner is determined from several nominations submitted from across Canada. Award nominees are judged against six criteria: Business Leadership, Longevity, Employment of Aboriginal Peoples, Safety and Environmental Performance, Consistency of Goods and Services Provided, and Commitment to Aboriginal Community.
FPAC is the voice of Canada's forest producers nationally and internationally in government, trade and environmental affairs. Canada's forest products industry is a $57-billion dollar a year industry that represents 11% of Canada's manufacturing GDP. The industry is one of Canada's largest employers, operating in hundreds of Canadian communities and providing more than 230,000 direct jobs across the country.
