TORONTO, July 19, 2018 /CNW/ - Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) will offer an additional writing of the profession's challenging Common Final Examination (CFE) in 2020.
The CFE is a central component of the Canadian CPA certification program and assesses candidates on the competencies defined by the Competency Map, which outlines the knowledge, skills and proficiency levels required of a Canadian CPA.
Currently, the profession offers the CFE once a year in September. In 2020, the three-day CFE will be available from May 27 to 29 and September 9 to 11. Additional CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) Capstone modules will also be offered to complement the second examination date.
"Flexibility around a key component of the certification process is important, especially with multiple paths available for individuals interested in becoming a Canadian CPA," explains Joy Thomas, president and CEO, CPA Canada.
Paths to attain the Canadian CPA designation are available for candidates already in the workforce, career changers, those with international training, university graduates in unrelated areas as well as new business graduates.
In addition to the technical skills associated with the profession, the CPA certification program offers an in-depth understanding of leadership, teamwork, communications and strategy through challenging courses and practical work experience.
Only those individuals who successfully complete the entire qualification program are entitled to use the CPA designation.
"The Canadian CPA certification program is consciously adapting to today's rapidly changing business world," adds Thomas. "There are definite advantages for our profession based on the skill set of Canadian CPAs; the ability to think creatively, to apply judgment and integrity, to analyze and manage and keep data secure."
CPA Canada also understands lifelong learning is vital to the future success of its members and offers an unprecedented range, depth and variety of professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
