GATINEAU, QC, March 8, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Richard J. Gwyn to the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization—soon to become the Canadian Museum of History—for a term of four years.
"I am delighted that Mr. Gwyn, a renowned historian both in Canada and abroad, has accepted the invitation to join the Board of Trustees," said Minister Moore. "His expertise, along with his experience in the public affairs and communications fields, will be of great benefit to the Board of the newly created Canadian Museum of History."
Mr. Gwyn—a historian, writer, and one of Canada's best-known and most highly-regarded political columnists—spent 30 years working for the Toronto Star. The author of seven best-selling books, including an award-winning biography of Sir John A. Macdonald, Mr. Gwyn is also the recipient of a number of awards, including two National Newspaper Awards, a National Magazine Award, and five citations for merit. In 2002, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. Mr. Gwyn was born in England and immigrated to Canada in 1954.
