GATINEAU, QC, May 21, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Nezhat Khosrowshahi to the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Canada for a term of four years.
"I am very pleased that Ms. Khosrowshahi has accepted the invitation to join the National Gallery's Board of Trustees," said Minister Moore. "Her business acumen and extensive experience working with boards, particularly in the arts, will be of great benefit to the Board and to the Gallery."
Nezhat Khosrowshahi immigrated to Canada in 1981 following a successful career as an entrepreneur and member of several boards of directors in her native Iran. She is the co-founder of Inwest Group of Companies (now a member of Persis Group of Companies), which established Future Shop Ltd.
Ms. Khosrowshahi was a founding board member of the BC Women's Foundation and the Vancouver Symphony Foundation, and has served on the boards of several arts and educational organizations.
The National Gallery of Canada is one of the world's most respected art institutions, renowned for its exceptional collections, respected for its scholarship, and applauded for its unique ability to engage audiences of all ages and all levels of artistic knowledge.
