MONTREAL, Feb. 4, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - On behalf of the Quebec English School Boards Association (QESBA) it is with pleasure that I say "thank you" to some 8,000 teachers throughout our English public education network. I must say, there should be 52 weeks a year, not just one where we underline teacher appreciation; this is something that we, as a network, must do on a daily basis.
We have one of the strongest education networks in the world and that is in large part due to the individuals who care for and educate our students every day. Teachers are on the front lines, responding to ever-changing communications methods, technology and what we identify as the "digital" student. We must recognize these new realities that our teachers face without ever forgetting the goal -- every student's success.
It is with pride that I can say that our English network boasts an over-all graduation rate of 82 per cent, as our teachers find positive ways to maximize their effectiveness in the face of increasing budget cuts. We are proud of our teachers and we say thank you to them and their colleagues who assist you in meeting the challenges during Teacher Appreciation week and for the 51 other weeks of the year.
QESBA is the voice of English public education in Québec, representing some 100,000 students
