Assembly of First Nations National Chief Atleo Congratulates Ruth Massie on Re-election as Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations Français
OTTAWA, June 27, 2013 /CNW/ - Assembly of First Nations (AFN) National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo today offered congratulations to Ruth Massie who was re-elected today as the Grand Chief of the Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN).
"I congratulate Grand Chief Massie on her re-election and I look forward to her continued leadership and contributions to the Yukon First Nations. Grand Chief Massie has worked hard to address a number of priority areas at the regional and national levels, including advocacy for implementation of self-government agreements and modern day Treaty agreements," said National Chief Atleo. "I fully support her ongoing efforts to protect the inherent rights, the land, the water, the environment of all Yukon First Nations. I look forward to continuing to work with her as we push forward to give life to our rights and build a better future for our people."
Grand Chief Ruth Massie was re-elected today in Whitehorse during the CYFN Annual General Assembly. She is a proud citizen of the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council and will be serving her second term as Grand Chief.
