TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Workers across the province have received notice this week that their offices are closing or that they have been laid off. Almost 100 employees will be working their last day of work right before the holidays, on December 21, following Bell Canada's announcement.
"Bell is trying to build itself up to be a massive media empire while shedding jobs across Ontario through outsourcing, offshoring and displacing work," said CEP Administrative Vice-President Barb Dolan. "It is time for Bell executives to acknowledge the importance of good jobs to ensure the well- being of employees, their families and their communities."
Bell Canada has announced layoffs, office closure affecting approximately 90 employees across Ontario, along with the consolidation of work and movement of work affecting about 80 employees.
The announcement impacts workers primarily located in Ottawa, Toronto and London. At the same time Bell is attempting to spend 3.38 billion dollars to expand their media empire.
