MISCOUCHE, PEI, June 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Safe efficient roadways are crucial to economic growth and productivity. The governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island are making strategic investments in transportation systems across the province to make highway travel safer, improve the flow of goods and support middle-class job creation.
Today, the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Member of Parliament for Cardigan, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Paula Biggar, Minister of Transportation, Infrastructure and Energy, announced more than $7.8 million in federal-provincial funding for multiple road improvements.
Work includes structural, safety and efficiency upgrades at the following key locations: Route 2 in Bloomfield Corner, Miscouche, Travellers Rest and Rollo Bay; Route 5 in Baldwin Road; Route 6 in Margate and Kensington; Route 13 in Rennies Road; Route 150 in Alberton and Union; and Route 152 in St. Edward.
Once complete, this work will significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve driving conditions, creating more efficient links from farms to markets and supporting tourism across the island.
