WATSON LAKE, YT, June 14, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Yukon are committed to investing in local infrastructure that ensures Northern Canadians and their families have access to modern, reliable water and wastewater services that meet their unique needs.
The Honourable Larry Bagnell, Member of Parliament for Yukon, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable John Streicker, Yukon Minister of Community Services, today announced funding for upgrades to the Watson Lake lagoon under the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund (CWWF). The federal government is providing $1,750,500—up to 75 per cent of funding for this project—and the territorial government is providing over $583,500.
Thanks to this investment, residents of Watson Lake will benefit from an improved, modern, and reliable sewage lagoon to enhance the capacity of the Town's wastewater treatment system. These upgrades are essential to keeping our waterways clean and our communities healthy and livable.
This investment is part of an agreement between Canada and Yukon for the CWWF.
