QUEBEC CITY, June 30, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - A great surge of generosity carried the fundraiser for Fondation les petits trésors of Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies. As part of Mental Health Week, loyal customers of the 154 Brunet locations were encouraged to give $1 to the Foundation from May 1 to 18. The response was incredible.
With in-pharmacy donations and the amount given by the Brunet banner, a combined total of $30,000 was raised for "Donnez pour des têtes en santé!" This sum will be used to support the leadership at Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies, the only hospital in Quebec fully dedicated to the mental health of children and youth.
With great pride, Luc Martinovitch, vice president and general manager of McMahon Distributeur pharmaceutique, speaks of the success of this first joint initiative. "For Brunet, health is what really matters. That's why we readily get involved with causes tied to health, especially those that affect children. Thanks to the amazing response of our generous customers, we feel like we have made a difference for the 250,000 young people suffering from mental health conditions in Quebec. I sincerely hope this is the beginning of a long and exciting journey with Fondation les petits trésors."
Fondation les petits trésors organizes a number of events to raise money for children's mental health and partners with sports personalities, among others. The "Donnez pour des têtes en santé!" event was sponsored by former hockey player Guy Lafleur.
